ENRIQUE M. ALMEIDA BERNAL, esq.

Enrique Almeida is an attorney-entrepreneur, proud father of two, and a fortunate husband who is passionate about defending people and making them aware of their rights. He is driven to defend the interests of consumers and businesses and for that reason, he has dedicated most of his professional life to representing debtors in Bankruptcy Court. As an attorney, Enrique offers highly specialized debt relief tailored to the unique needs of his clients in a compassionate and humane way.

For the past 20 years, he has provided successful legal representation to businesses and individuals throughout the Island of Puerto Rico. His practice focuses primarily on commercial and personal bankruptcy, including chapters 7, 11, and 13, foreclosure defense, and IRS tax debt resolution.

In 1997 Enrique obtained a B.A. in Political Science from the University of Puerto Rico. He continued graduate studies, and earned a Juris Doctor cum laude in 2000, from the Interamerican University School of Law. While in Law School, he served as Editor-in-Chief of the Law Review, was part of the Dean's Honor Roll, and was part of the Who's Who Among American Law Students.

After working for a few years in a Construction Law and Bankruptcy Boutique Law Firm, he founded Almeida & Davila, PSC in 2004, and from then on, he has helped thousands of consumers and businesses attain financial reorganization and elimination of their debt.

For over 20 years, Enrique has worked as an attorney, handling, litigating, and negotiating bankruptcy, construction, lender’s liability, real estate law, collections, and personal and commercial foreclosure cases before the Puerto Rico Courts, Federal Court, and the Bankruptcy Court. As a senior trial attorney, Enrique often litigates stay and discharge violations on behalf of debtors and defends preference claims. He also routinely participates in commercial transactions and real estate closings as a Notary Public.

Enrique recently played a pivotal role on behalf of several credit unions in contesting the validity of the Commonwealth’s Plan of Adjustment in the historic PROMESA Title III case for the restructuring of the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico's debt. Enrique frequently writes about legal and financial issues in local newspapers, on the Internet, and in blogs to keep consumers informed of their rights. With his articles, Enrique also wants to provoke in the reader a positive attitude to handle problems, in order to achieve a great quality of life. In everything he does, Enrique intends to inspire and educate people to help them thrive.
